Watching a new TV series: The Unit

I've always been delighted to watch military action. What if I tell you there's a TV series that is about miltary secret/special missions. This show is called 'The Unit'. This unit is a small team of militarily ready soldiers that works for DoD and has authority over any government entities (at least they don't take orders other then themselves). Many veterans enjoyed this show and said it's accurately portraying what's really going on in the military other than troops occasionally being deployed to war zones. This shows doesn't only pack with serious action domestically/internationally, but also showing the other side of the Unit; which is the wives behind all the actions. They've to worry not just their husbands but also the lives with the rest of the family (kids, friends, neighbors, future...). So there's also emotional, touchy side of it. I love the missions overseas. The settings are close enough to make you believe they filmed it at the locations they've indicated. Music adds an exotic touch to it, I'm watching season 1 episode 5. They cleverly used Spanish guitar sound in some of their sequences. It sure does look like more than just a TV show. I'm surprised that not that many people have picked up this show YET.

Throughout the show, they used special terms sparingly. I've no idea what some of those military terms mean...I think CBS can do a better job in explaining some of those terms on their official web. It might be available on their DVDs. I just bought the entire season 2 from Amazon. Sadly, it's only downloadable to PC by using their Unbox software. The accommodation for Mac is absolute. Mac users can only view the shows they bought online (streaming), in my case I don't get the highest quality of the videos as my connection speed is not so high. All I could do is install the Unbox software and run it on my XP installed on my Mac. It's quite a hassle to deal with this. After downloading an episode, guess what? It's in WMV format. It's not mac friendly, or I should say it's not playable on OSX. There's a little trivia section on the Unbox tool that explains a little miltary terms that they've used in each show. However, it's not sufficient for most of the viewers without military background. :X

I feel like I was scammed. Amazon shouldn't discriminate Mac users. It turned out that I might order the DVDs in the future. Probably a X'mas present for dad. He likes this kind of show except the wives maybe.

And yea I just spotted two actors used AE clothing in the show. Jonas' daughter was wearing a yellow polo shirt and Bob Brown was wearing an AE flat cap. :D
