Two movies: The Forbidden Kingdom & My Blueberry Nights

I wasn't really planning to see the Forbidden Kingdom in the theatre today after reading the movie critics. Okay..I went at the end. The movie was average. I enjoyed the fighting scenes and the jokes they're making. There isn't really a story to it. Everything was so americanized even the chinese spoke english. That was one of the things that didn't make too much sense to me. Most of the time you see Jackie Chan/Jet Li in the modern times. I think that really threw me off a bit. I think the American loves this movie. It's great to have an American dude in the chinese ancient time fighting bosses and stuff. There's too much trash chinese talking in the movie. I understand they're trying to explain things as clearly as possible but i found it quite boring. It's nice to see chinese firming their movies in Hollywood. With the martial art stars, chinese won't be able to lift up as we're are now. I appreciate the attempt!

The other day I was reading about Wong Kar Wai's movie featuring stars like Jude Law, Natalie Portman. I had no intention to watch My Blueberry Nights as I'm not a big fan of abstract romance/art movies. It just happened that I want to see how Norah Jones acted in the movie as she's new to the acting. Surprisingly, she was acting up to the standard. You wouldn't know she's just a singer if no one ever hear/see her sing. I believe this is the first firm that Wong Kar Wai shoot in the US. I've no idea what the audiences reactions were. I do feel that it's very different from any other Hollywood directors. Oh also, Wong Kar Wai wrote that story. I cannot determine whether it's good or bad as I'm not a romantic guy!!! Remember this movie is no chick flick or comedy. It's pure art and romance. The casts were great!

I forgot to add, My Blueberry Nights only showed in 6 theatres. Yes!!!! One of which was the theatre that I usually go to 'AMC @ Warrenville, IL'.
