Celtic Friddler: Hanneke Cassel

Out of the blue, I was just clicking on music at CDBaby.com. I found this friddler from the States. Her name is Hanneke Cassel. I'm not sure how famous she's in the friddle/celtic world. But this is definitely a must get for those who enjoy Contemporary Celtic music. It's more than just skillful. You can hear how dynamic, and powerful the music is. The arrangements on the tunes she selected were so decorative. Dressed with minor tones. She completely washed away all the negative image I have for a friddler. I thought it'd be the same Ol' annoying kind of sound, like hornpipe?! This isn't. I'd say she has a friddler with a classic edge. Banzai!!!

I ordered my copy of this album (Some Melodious Sonnet) today. It's such a great CD, not sure why it's not available as MP3 album.

She has some other releases. Her latest album focuses on Scottish tunes. I heard some hornpipe tunes there so I'm not digging it right now. I might in the future. I'll check out her debut album tonight!

It's a great find for me.
