It's a discovery today when I tuned in the Celtic channel on AOL radio. It was playing Heidi Talbot's song. I quickly searched it and previewed it iTunes. Guess what?! That's it! I'm getting her albums. Thanks to both iTunes and AOL for that. Or I'll never have a chance to listen to this Indie artist's music.
Heidi's music is all acoustic with mostly acoustic guitar and bohan. There're two things that caught my attention. First, it's the musical style. Her style is defined as folk/Celtic contemporary. What you hear is what she sang. No editing or whatsoever. Second, the instruments usage in the music. What's good about it, is all the instruments are acoustic. It requires a bit more techniques to express in the music. Heidi's voice is a perfect match on both her style and instruments used in her music. It's not anything like Celtic Woman which they all have baby voices... Her voice almost has a little pop/rock edge to it. One of the
reasons why people think that her music is modern celtic is because of that, no doubt about it.
Her latest album released in Feb 2008 titled 'In Love and Light' was finalist in the best Indie Acoustic female vocal category. Does that mean something? Talk is always cheap. Listen yourself here: MySpace
