I've never thought that I could sale my Gateway laptop in a week and get more than I expected. Here are some useful tips for 'first-timer' who want to sell something on ebay:
1. Prepare the items' detailed description and photos.
2. Search similar items that's already posted on ebay. You don't have to read all of it ( I read about 10 or less). I marked their bid prices and read the description they provided. You've to know what's out on the auction first.
3. Create your item profile. Write a few descriptive paragraphs about the items you're selling (History, modifications, all the good stuff). Honesty is the number priority. My laptop wasn't perfect. I stated that some keys on the keyboard will need minor fixes. Therefore, point out the flaws on your items if it's used(dents, scratches, malfunctions,...). A couple of pictures would be helpful as indications.
4. It's always good to have official specifications as reference. I got mine from Gateway.
5. Set a reasonable price. Then sit back and relax (usually for 6 days) if you set the auction period as a week.
6. Be patient. All the bid activities come on the last day (even last hour in some cases). I'm not a patient guy. I just totally forgot I was selling my laptop. When the auction was over, I got a spam of email saying congratulations for selling your item. I checked the price. O.O!!! That's more than I expected to get back.
